RESTORING WINDOWS 10 'SETUP FAILED TO VALIDATE THE PRODUCT KEY' ERROR

Hi, I am running a windows 7 Pro desktop that meets all the criteria for windows 10. I was doing my causal check for the passive windows 10 install in windows update. I checked the log for updates and i found 10 windows 10 download attempts that had all failed. I decided to install using the media tool and now every time I try to finish it i get "windows 10 setup has failed to validate the product key" and i am forced to close it. I have tried reinstalling it 4 times and still have had no luck with it. I"m just looking to upgrade and go, I never expected it to be so hard to install a free update, I"m almost tempted to go out and pay the $199.99 for a boxed edition.

From the description provided, I understand that you are facing activation issues with Windows 10.

Please be informed that if you have performed a clean/custom installation using Windows 10 installation media, the product will no longer be activated.

Also, if you have performed an in place upgradeusing an edition of Windows which is not a valid upgrade path, the same issue would occur.
